Features: DVD, Aspect Ratio 1.85:1 Slinky Germanic singer-actress Ute Lemper made her Broadway debut in Chicago and is known internationally for her interpretations of theatre music, European cabaret songs and tunes by Kurt Weill.Lemper explained her new show, "Audiences should prepare to be taken on a ride through the joints of Berlin, Paris and New York to catch the spirits of poets and provocateurs, to hear stories between war and peace, to move from temptation to serenity, all decorated with blood and feathers!" Adding, "Pirate Jenny will meet Edith Piaf and both will tell stories of lost love, betrayal, politics and revenge in the year 2005 the scene is New York, the club is glamorous, but the stories are true!" The song list includes works by Weill, Brecht, Hollaender, Brel, Prevert, Sondheim and Kander & Ebb. Lemper offers a few of her own compositions as well. This video presentation is from one of her SRO performances at the recently concluded engagement at the Cafe Carlyle. It showcases her unique talents as an entertainer par excellance.

On this release, the inimitable Ute Lemper entertains an audience at the Caf Carlyle in New York City . Recorded in 2005, the show formed part of Lemper's world tour, and saw the talented singer performing a meticulously arranged set. Tackling works by Berthold Brecht, Kurt Weill, Jacques Brel, and other celebrated songsmiths, Lemper also adds some original material into the mix, and turns the set into a cohesive whole by staging dramatic scenes between each song.
